Course Description

Mandarin 8

The aims of Mandarin 8 course are to enable students to listen, speak, read, and write basic Mandarin Chinese. This course applies the communicative-experiential approach, which focuses on the purposeful use of Mandarin Chinese to perform real-life tasks, share ideas, acquire information, and understand Chinese culture and society. Students will learn about 250 new Chinese characters and 500 new phrases.They will also learn Hanyu Pinyin, a pronunciation system.

 

Mandarin 9

The aims of Mandarin 9 course are to enable students to listen, speak, read, and write basic Mandarin Chinese. This course applies the communicative-experiential approach, which focuses on the purposeful use of Mandarin Chinese to perform real-life tasks, share ideas, acquire information, and understand Chinese culture and society. Students will learn 250 new Chinese characters and 54 basic Chinese radicals.

 

Mandarin 10

The aims of Mandarin 10 course are to enable students to listen, speak, read, and write intermediate Mandarin Chinese. This course applies the communicative-experiential approach, which focuses on the purposeful use of Mandarin Chinese to perform real-life tasks, share ideas, acquire information, and understand Chinese culture and society. Students will learn approximately 300 new characters and 500 new phrases.

 

Mandarin 11

The aims of Mandarin 11 course are to enable students to listen, speak, read, and write intermediate Mandarin Chinese. This course applies the communicative-experiential approach, which focuses on the purposeful use of Mandarin Chinese to perform real-life tasks, share ideas, acquire information, and understand Chinese culture and society. Students will learn approximately 300 new characters and 600 new phrases.

 

Mandarin 12

The aims of Mandarin 12 course are to enable students to listen, speak, read, and write advanced Mandarin Chinese. This course applies the communicative-experiential approach, which focuses on the purposeful use of Mandarin Chinese to perform real-life tasks, share ideas, acquire information, and understand Chinese culture and society. Students will learn approximately 350 new characters and 550 new phrases. This course will prepare students for writing Mandarin 12 Provincial Exam.
